Lynchburg Radon Mitigation is a local service brand for radon testing and mitigation in Lynchburg and Central Virginia. It helps homeowners, buyers and sellers reach licensed and insured local radon professionals.
This site is not the contractor. It does not do the testing or install the systems itself. Its job is to connect your call with the professionals who do.
How it works
You call (434) 455-8258. Your call is connected to licensed and insured local radon testing and mitigation professionals. They explain your options in plain terms, and after looking at the home, they give you a written quote.
Cost depends on the foundation type, size and layout of the home. That is why the quote comes after someone has seen the house. Nothing is decided over the phone.
Who does the work
Virginia law requires anyone doing professional radon testing or mitigation to hold current NRSB or NRPP certification under Virginia Code 32.1-229.01. EPA also recommends hiring a qualified radon professional. Feel free to ask any professional about their certification before you agree to anything.
Why radon matters in Lynchburg homes
Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil and rock. The Virginia Department of Health and EPA recommend that all homes be tested, because testing is the only way to know a home's level. High results have been found in every Virginia county, including counties marked low risk on EPA's map.
That applies to the older homes of Rivermont, Daniel's Hill, Federal Hill and Garland Hill, and to newer subdivisions in Forest, Timberlake and Madison Heights alike. Winters here are cool, with January averaging about 36 degrees F, so many homes stay closed up for months at a time.
Where help is available
The service area covers the city of Lynchburg, the nearby towns of Madison Heights, Forest, Timberlake and Rustburg, and the surrounding county. Whether your home is in Boonsboro, Peakland, Linkhorne or along Old Forest Road, you can call and ask about testing or mitigation.
Buying or selling a home
During a home sale, radon tests are often done in the inspection period. A result from a previous owner may not reflect current conditions, especially after renovations. If you are in the middle of a sale and want to talk through your options, call (434) 455-8258.
